Ellen Welch is an associate attorney at LJ Law. She is a tenacious advocate for her clients and firmly believes that everyone deserves someone who will fight for them during their hardest times. She also brings a deep level of compassion and understanding to the table. Ellen is passionate about advocating for children and is dedicated to making sure whenever children are involved, their needs and wellbeing are the top priority.
Ellen is a Private Guardian ad Litem, a member of the Utah Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and is a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. She is also a member of the Utah Bar LGBT & Allied Lawyers and Women Lawyers sections of the Utah State Bar.
She graduated from BYU Law School in 2021. During law school, Ellen was heavily involved in Trial Advocacy. She competed on BYU’s National Trial Advocacy team and won BYU’s Linda Anderson Trial Advocacy competition. She also received extensive training in negotiation and mediation, and won the first year student’s negotiation competition. Ellen was the president of her law school class, and also was a member of the Moot Court team. She interned for the Honorable Judge Ryan M. Harris on the Utah Court of Appeals, worked at the Utah County Attorney’s office, and was a law clerk for another local law firm practicing immigration, criminal, and family law. She also worked as a fellow researching international law and its implication on religious freedom.
Prior to law school, she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Public Relations from Brigham Young University. During her studies she was ranked as one of the top public speakers at the university, and was a member of Phi Eta Sigma honor society. She has also studied abroad in New Zealand and London and through her world travels, has gained extensive insight into human connections.
Ellen was raised in Southern California, and will always consider the ocean home. She lives in Millcreek with her husband and their son, and enjoys traveling, yoga, sushi, and going to the movies.
